序章｜なぜ今、日本語教育を問うのか
いま、日本語を学ぶ外国人は年々増え続けています。しかしその一方で、「学ぶ人は増えても、育つ環境は整っていない」という現実があります。
多くの学生が「日本で働きたい」「家族を支えたい」という夢を持って日本語を学び始めますが、その夢を本当に支えられる教育がどれほどあるでしょうか。
日本語教育は、単なるスキル訓練ではなく、人生を変え、国をつなぎ、社会を築く力です。それなのに現場では、試験対策や労働力の送り出しに偏った教育も少なくありません。
「日本語教育は、誰のために、何のためにあるのか？」 この問いこそ、今あらためて考えるべきテーマです。
第1章｜海外における日本語教育のリアル
私が日本語教育に携わってきたのはカンボジアです。10年以上、貧困や格差の中で懸命に学ぶ若者たちを見てきました。
「お金がないから学校に通えない」「働きながら勉強するしかない」――そんな声を何度も聞いてきました。
だからこそ、私たちは“教える”だけでなく、“学べる環境をつくる”ことから始めました。それが教育の第一歩です。
日本語学校とは、夢を叶える出発点であり、人生を立て直す再出発の場所。語学だけでなく、礼儀や思いやりを学ぶ場でもあります。
第2章｜日本における受け入れ体制の課題
日本では「外国人＝労働力」という認識がいまだ根強く残っています。教育よりも経済の論理が優先される場面も少なくありません。
しかし、彼らは“働くための存在”ではなく、“共に社会を築く仲間”です。
地域が外国人を受け入れるということは、単に人口を増やすことではなく、文化や価値観を広げることでもあります。
日本語教育の目的は「日本社会に適応させる」ことではなく、互いを理解し、尊重し合う架け橋をつくることです。
第3章｜日本語学校が果たすべき使命
日本語学校の使命は、“言葉を教える”ことではありません。それはあくまで入り口にすぎません。
私たちが育てたいのは、“知識のある人”ではなく、“人間力のある人”です。
挨拶・時間・思いやり——この「基本」を身につけた学生こそ、どんな国でも信頼される存在になります。
教育とは知識の伝達ではなく、“生き方を示す”こと。教師とは、答えを与える人ではなく、“気づきを与える人”です。
第4章｜共存・共栄という未来志向
私は学生にいつも伝えています。「日本に行ったら、助けてもらう側ではなく、共に社会を築く仲間になりなさい」と。
共存とは、ただ一緒にいることではありません。共栄とは、どちらかが犠牲になることでもありません。
それは、理解し、尊重し、補い合うこと。そこに“共に生きる未来”が生まれます。
終章｜教育でつながる世界へ
これまで多くの学生を日本へ送り出してきました。そのたびに実感するのは、教育は一方通行ではないということです。
教える側も、常に学び続けています。学生の努力が、教師を成長させるのです。
教育は国境を越える対話です。言葉が心をつなぎ、信頼が社会を動かす力になる。
私の信念はひとつ。“Education can change lives.”（教育は人生を変える）
日本語学校は、世界をつなぐ“希望のプラットフォーム”でありたい。信じ、育て、共に進む。それが、私が描く教育の未来です。

My journey began in Cambodia, where I’ve spent over ten years with young learners striving to study Japanese despite poverty and inequality.
“I can’t afford school.” “I must work while studying.” — I’ve heard these words countless times.
That is why we began not just by teaching, but by creating an environment where learning is possible. That is the true first step of education.
A Japanese language school is both a starting point for dreams and a turning point in life — a place where students learn not only language, but also respect and empathy.
Chapter 2 | The Challenges Within Japan’s System
In Japan, foreigners are still too often viewed as a labor force, with economics taking precedence over education.
But they are not mere workers — they are partners in building society together.
Welcoming foreigners is not simply about increasing numbers — it’s about expanding culture and reimagining what community means.
The true goal of Japanese language education is not assimilation — it is mutual understanding and respect.
Chapter 3 | The True Mission of Japanese Language Schools
The mission of a Japanese language school is not just to teach words — that is merely the entrance.
What we must nurture are not just knowledgeable individuals, but people with strong character.
Students who master the basics — greetings, punctuality, empathy — are those who earn trust wherever they go.
Education is not about transferring knowledge but showing a way of life. A teacher is not one who provides answers, but one who inspires awareness.

I always tell my students, “When you go to Japan, don’t see yourself as someone being helped — become a partner in building society together.”
Coexistence is not simply living side by side; mutual growth is not about one giving and the other receiving.
It is about understanding, respecting, and complementing one another — that is where the future of coexistence begins.
Epilogue | Education Connects the World
Over the years, I have sent countless students to Japan — and each time, I am reminded that education is never one-way.
Teachers also learn. The students’ passion becomes a mirror that challenges and strengthens us.
Education is a dialogue that transcends borders — when words connect hearts, trust becomes a force that moves society.
My conviction is simple: Education can change lives.
A Japanese language school should be a platform of hope that connects the world — believing, nurturing, and walking forward together. That is the future I strive to create through education.
